What do you think of when you look at a work of art? Do you see a glimpse of the past? Of what was important at that moment in time? Is that work of art a message to the future – of the courage it takes to be the creator of your own canvas, no matter what the medium?

Naperville’s portrait is as vibrant as its everchanging landscape, and 2021 was certainly full of change. City leaders navigated the continuing pandemic, an EF3 tornado, and economic uncertainty. Yet during this time, they found that the policies and priorities already in motion primed the canvas to create a new portrait of what our community can – and will – look like.

Join Mayor Steve Chirico as he reflects on 2021, looks forward to a year of optimism in 2022, and encourages the leaders of tomorrow to be bright and bold in their relentless pursuit of painting Naperville’s future picture.
