As a progressive and compassionate community, we must recognize the importance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillators (AED). In addition, we have to be prepared for basic first aid, bleeding control, and mental health concerns.
The instruction of community members in basic first aid increases awareness and readiness within the community, all of which play a vital role in the chain of survival. Emergent situations happen daily; the more we are prepared to intervene and help each other, the safer and healthier we will be. The Naperville Fire Department’s half-day CPR/AED and First Aid programs teach residents and healthcare providers how to effectively deliver First Aid and CPR and correctly use an AED per current American Heart Association guidelines. Students will also take away knowledge and skills for first aid, bleeding control, and mental health awareness.
