Jimmy Clayton
President & CEO
Illinois Chamber of Commerce
Jimmy Clayton is President and CEO of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, where he leads the organization’s advocacy, membership, and policy initiatives on behalf of businesses across Illinois. With more than 15 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, and association leadership, he has built a reputation as an effective advocate and strategic leader.
Prior to joining the Illinois Chamber, Clayton served in a variety of leadership roles with Illinois REALTORS®. He spent six years as Local Government Affairs Director before leading the association’s State Government Affairs and Political Action Committee efforts from 2021 to 2025. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with elected officials, business leaders, and stakeholders to advance policies that promote economic growth and strengthen Illinois’ business climate.
A graduate of Bradley University, Clayton earned a bachelor’s degree and has dedicated his professional career to public affairs and advocacy. He and his wife, Brittany, reside in Springfield with their two children, Kendall and Jace. Clayton is an active member of Springfield First Church.
