Paws on the Parkway a pet fair and adoption event supporting the Naperville Area Humane Society (NAHS) was hosted by Calamos Real Estate on Sept. 30 at CityGate Centre, Rte. 59 & Ferry Rd., Naperville. The event resulted in four dogs finding their “furr-ever” homes and $2,225 was raised to support the care of rescued pets at the shelter.

Funds were raised from the sale of raffle tickets with prizes donated by event exhibitors, direct donations made at the event and sale of pet portraits sponsored by Calamos Real Estate. In addition, a portion of proceeds from Tap In Pub, the sports bar at CityGate Centre with a pet-friendly patio contributed to the fundraising total.

In addition to Chamber members NAHS, Calamos Real Estate and CityGate Centre, among the exhibitors were Chamber members  PetWants clean pet food delivery and The Welcome Waggin’ in-home veterinary care. Other local organizations also supported the event: Dog Training Elite presented training demonstrations- and Naperville Police Department’s K9 unit demonstrated and Chamber member Two Bostons donated a raffle prize. Other exhibitors and donars were PetSuites daycare and boarding, and PetButler pet-sitting and cleanup. A DJ sponsored by Calamos Real Estate provided music throughout the afternoon.

The event was managed by volunteers of the Humane Society along with a Calamos Cares team—a volunteer group composed of employees of Calamos Investments, Primacy Business Center and Calamos Real Estate.

Calamos Real Estate SVP Ken Witkowski, who has three dogs of his own including a retired K9 service dog, said, “It’s very rewarding to us to support the important work that NAHS does and also present a community event that celebrates the special relationships between people and their pets.”
